Description:

In the Master's degree course, a dissertation based on a research project is developed by the student in one of the research lines of a research group of PPGQUI-UFU, under the advisory of one of the accredited professors of PPGQUI-UFU. The Master's degree course at PPGQUI-UFU has a minimum duration of 12 months and a maximum duration of 24 months. The curricular composition of the course totals 20 credits, distributed as follows:


Concepts/Grades:

  • "A" - Excellent - 90% to 100% grade; entitled to credits
  • "B" - Good - 75% to 89% grade; entitled to credit
  • "C" - Regular - 60% to 74% grade; entitled to credit
  • "D" - Insufficient - 40% to 59% grade; without credit
  • "E" - Failed - 0% to 39% grade; without credit

After the obtainment of the required credits as well as the verification of English language proficiency, the Qualification Exam is mandatory, in which an Examining Board will evaluate the Master's dissertation work developed up to that moment. The last stage of the course consists of the Master’s degree oral defense in which the candidate for the Master degree presents the dissertation to an Examining Board, in a public session. The Qualification exam and the defense of the Dissertation will be carried out by a panel of at least three and, at the most, four members, including the candidate advisor. The fulfilment of all credit requirements followed by the approval in the Dissertation defense confer the title of Master in Chemistry.


SCHOLARSHIPS / FELLOWSHIPS or GRANTS:

Regarding the Master's degree fellowship, please, check the specific rules in the selection process notices or in the Scholarship page. In Brazil, most graduate programs, including PPGQUI-UFU, do not charge tuition fees. Hence, all students may apply for grants (Scholarship page) to pay their expenses in the city of Uberlândia, Brazil. 


CANDIDATE PROFILE:

The newcomer must present a long-term and completed undergraduate degree recognized by the Ministry of Education (MEC-Brazil), in the field of Chemistry. Exceptionally, with authorization from the Collegiate, long-term undergraduate degrees recognized by MEC may be accepted in related areas, such as Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Physics and Engineering.
